1. That my husband
loves me as he loves himself—resisting the natural temptation to be selfish—and
that I respect him and the authority God has given him over me and our family
(Ephesians 5:33).
2. That I submit to
my husband in everything as to the Lord, and that what he asks of me is what
Christ would want him to ask of me (Ephesians 5:22-24).
3. That my husband
loves me as Christ loves the church: in
a sacrificial, purifying, and caring, protective manner (Ephesians 5:25-32).
4. That my husband
not become harsh or embittered against me (Colossians 3:19)—and that I am careful not to tempt him
to be so.
5. That I demonstrate purity, reverence, and a gentle and quiet spirit in my life, not a fearful or negative attitude (1 Peter 3:1-6).
6. That my husband be a considerate and chivalrous partner with me in life, dwelling with me in such an understanding way that he gives no reason for his prayers to be hindered at all (1 Peter 3:7).
7. That my husband and I devote ourselves to satisfying one another physically, emotionally, socially, and mentally with great joy and enthusiasm (1 Corinthians 7:3-5; Proverbs 5:15-19).
